by Susan Haifleigh

When is light more precious, rising
from darkness, hearts in resistance test faith

persisting in the face of unease,
the gift, triumph of faith over fear

the heart that breaks, breaks in shadow,
gracefully resisting the call for truth

speak, sing and trust
living in surrender, defying the mind

following uncertainty where it leads
with strength and bravery, listen

a clear strong melody rises,
moving like many rivers reverberating

through the body, lifting harmonies
leading to the jewels hidden within

lay down the sword of judgment,
see what is there, what is true

speak, and sing the words of ancestors
who did not dare an utterance

divine experiments in the making, strung
out across time standing tall, world watching

shouting “don’t whisper, raise your voices”
pausing to hear the glorious sound

stepping out of the darkness we gather,
singing the light into being.
